1. Advancing Justice – LA Pan-Asian Citizenship Workshop / Sat Jun 27, LA Central Library
Volunteers needed for a free citizenship workshop spearheaded by Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles. AAAJ-LA will be targeting the Thai community in Los Angeles, among others, so Thai language skills are a plus, but not necessary. 2. Cal State Bar — Voluntary Client Trust Accounting Survey
The State Bar of California is launching a voluntary survey of its members to help ensure that lawyers are meeting their ethical obligations when it comes to handling client funds.
The anonymous online survey, approved last month by the Board of Trustees, will increase awareness of client trust accounting rules and serve as an educational tool. In addition, State Bar staff will analyze the survey results to make decisions about future educational and regulatory efforts.
Participants will also receive a coupon, valid through the end of the year, for a $10 discount on any item in the State Bar online CLE catalog.

b. Membership Changes
Effective June 15, 2015, each Affiliate and National Associate member must activate his/her NAPABA membership in order to take advantage of NAPABA membership benefits, including event registration discounts and voting in officer elections. Members may activate their membership at any time but in order to vote in the election of NAPABA Officers for the 2015-2016 bar year, they must activate their membership on or before July 1, 2015. (NOTE: Students and non-lawyer members are not eligible to vote. National Associate members are not eligible to vote by virtue of their National Associate membership status but may be otherwise eligible through direct membership or Affiliate membership.) Of course, all NAPABA direct members will be eligible to vote in the elections.
