2. Tabbadour Amicus Brief

Earlier this year, TABA signed onto an amicus brief in support of an Iranian American immigration judge who was ordered to recuse herself from all cases involving Iranian nationals after she accepted a White House invitation to a roundtable event with Iranian-American community leaders.

The case has now resulted in the DOJ rescinding the order requiring Judge Tabaddor to recuse herself from cases involving Iranian nationals. The settlement also requires the DOJ to undertake a review of its recusal policies and pay $200,000.

3. JABA/AAAJ-LA Substance Abuse MCLE / 545pm Dinner 630pm Program Tue Nov 17, AAAJ-LA

Please join TABA for a Substance Abuse MCLE. The Japanese American Bar Association, Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles, and The Other Bar are teaming up to host a live MCLE presentation, “Substance Abuse in the Legal Profession”, on Tues 11/17/15 at Advancing Justice-LA in downtown. TABA members and members of co-sponsoring organizations pay the reduced $25 fee that covers both dinner and the program. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

1. Orange County Korean American Bar Association Installation Dinner / 6pm Wed Nov 18, Turnip Rose Promenade & Gardens, Costa Mesa

The Orange County Korean American Bar Association (OCKABA) is holding its 10th Anniversary Installation Dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 18th at the Turnip Rose Promenade and Gardens. Ms. Carol Lam, Sr. Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Qualcomm Inc, former U.S. Attorney, and former San Diego County Superior Court judge will be the keynote speaker and Community Service Award recipient. Mr. Seung Bak, Co-Founder and CEO of DramaFever.com, will receive the Corporate Trailblazer award.

2. APIDC Second Annual Gala / 5pm Sat Nov 21, Cicada Restaurant

Please join us for APIDC’s Second Annual Gala on Saturday, November 21, 2015. This year, we will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and its pioneering role in driving the advancement of the rights of people with disabilities. We will be honoring renowned singer and disabilities advocate Jennifer Kumiyama, who is the first entertainer at Disneyland in a wheelchair. In addition, we will be honoring the California Association for Post-Secondary Education and Disability (CAPED), JPMorgan Chase, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transport Authority (Metro), and NBCUniversal for their continuing legacies in disability inclusion in their respective industries.

Proceeds from the Gala will be utilized to support APIDC’s programs, including its 2016 Statewide Disabilities Conference, educational seminars, trainings, peer group convenings, Youth Leadership Institute, and Pathways to Employment pilot efforts.

The Gala will take place in the historic and beautiful Cicada Restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles.

Join the South Asian Network (SAN) on November 21, 2015 as we celebrate “25 Years of Successful Endeavors” at the California Science Center
