2:05 – 3:05: Transition to Electrification: Challenges and Obstacles
California’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality statewide (EO-B-55-18) and in the electricity grid (SB-100) is intensifying the shift to renewable energy resources, including the increased use of electrification. This panel will discuss the challenges posed by a statewide push towards electrification, including the technological, regulatory, economic, and legal hurdles for the southern California utilities that must respond and adapt to the state’s policies.

As geoengineering gains prominence as a means to counter climate change and its consequences, it brings numerous potential legal issues. This panel explores the current challenges of undertaking geoengineering projects and the legal issues that may be on the horizon.
